Some photos of our visit from volunteers of The Last Hope Animal Charity last week. Our Wednesday night cubs with some help form other members too decided to collect only brown coins or coppers for Last Hope last October. This resulted in the presentation of a cheque for €250 which will be put to great use in helping the animals that are cared for and re-homed by Last Hope.

Chief Scout 20km hike from the Ramparts in Navan to Stackallen & beyond! We had a wonderful hike today with a great bunch of Cubs who took on the task admirably. Lots of wildlife spotting was done and we had sunshine practically the whole day. Well done to all those who took part, those that couldn’t make today will do their hike next month.  The final photo is our celebratory 99 after the hike!

Our Cubs were involved in a Conservation project this week on Chamberlainstown lane near Girley Bog.

Over 100 native Irish apple trees have been planted and rather than spray nasty weed killer around them we firstly trampled down any growth around the trunk, then laid wet newspaper, then large pieces of cardboard and finally weighed it all down with rocks or pieces of wood. This will keep the weeds down in a much more sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

Many thanks to Ranger Annette for her guidance and expertise we all really enjoyed helping out.

Our Cub group had an amazing visit to Dalkey Rowing Club on a beautiful sunny Saturday. Huge thanks to our Della for setting up and here’s hoping it becomes an annual day out!

Huge thanks to Moynalty Cycling Club who once again gave us a brilliant couple of evenings cycling fun and education. Both Tuesday and Wednesday Cubs and Beavers brought their bikes out to Moynalty Threshing Field last week and were put through their paces on two wheels!
